전라남도 신안 증도에서의 리서치와 체류를 바탕으로 제작되었다. 염전, 여름 성경학교, 힐링센터, 그물 천막, 낙조 전망대 등 섬의 다양한 장소를 따라가며, 공동체가 머무르고 연결되는 놀이, 일터, 전도, 배움의 자리를 함께 만들고 경험했다. ‘파라클레토스(Parakletos)’는 헬라어로 ‘곁에 서는 자’, ‘위로자’, ‘보혜사’를 뜻한다. 보이지 않지만 곁에 있는 존재들, 말을 건네는 풍경, 잊혔으나 여전히 머무는 이름들과 감정들에 주목하며, 기록과 연출 사이의 긴장을 유지하고자 했다. 지역 교회 학생들, 주민, 염전 직원들, 안무가, 스태프 등 여러 협업자의 도움으로 완성되었다. 작업 내내 ‘누가 누구의 곁에 서고 끝내 남는가’를 스스로에게 물었다.

Developed through research and residency on Jeungdo Island in Sinan, Jeollanam-do, this work follows the island’s varied sites—the salt fields, a summer Bible school, a healing center, canopy tents, and a sunset observatory. The artist took part in shaping and experiencing spaces of play, work, evangelism, and learning that nurtured the bonds within the community.
The title Parakletos derives from the Greek word meaning “one who stands beside,” “comforter,” or “advocate.” The work reflects on unseen presences nearby, landscapes that seem to speak, and names and emotions once forgotten yet still lingering, maintaining a subtle tension between documentation and direction. Created in collaboration with local church students, residents, salt field workers, a choreographer, and production staff, the work continually asks: Who stands beside whom, and who, in the end, remains?
